Colocation Hosting Colocation is much like dedicated hosting. You will have your own server that is only used by you. You will not lease the server as you will own the server. ... The main difference between managed hosting and colocation is the amount of control.

Co location hosting- Co location hosting is the practice of housing privately owned servers and networking equipment in third party center. It provides the facilities for space, power, cooling and physical security for the servers, storage and networking equipment of other firms.

Data center-It is the brain of the company and is the facility used to house computer system and is associated components. It is the facility that centralizes an organisation in IT operations and equipment.

While colocation is similar to dedicated hosting (you own – rather than lease – the server), the difference between colocation and managed dedicated hosting is the level of control. With colocation, your IT team has unilateral control over all aspects of your server's management and implementation.

Data center (https://www.esds.co.in/) is to put simply a place where centralized data processing occurs, including the all the related processing and storing data, as well as back ups. The centralization will require a certain type of building with electrical, cooling, and network system to be built around that requirement.

The colocation is a concept of having the shared location of IT equipment in the data center. Since the data center owner owns the building and facility, other people can put their equipment inside the data center and pay certain lease fee for its features, including electricity, cooling, network access, security, etc. People build data centers so that other people don't have to build their own server rooms and managing them.

A colocation data center is when a data center company rents out the entire facility to another company. A colocation rack, on the other hand, is when they rent out rack space within a data center to multiple companies.

Colocation – is the use of a separate data center as a shared facility. A company's data is stored and managed offsite by a colocation provider along with data from other companies as well. Managed Hosting – is the use of a data center, but a company is assigned their own dedicated servers or cloud servers.

The term “data center” usually refers to the entire building, and everything in it. “Colocation” is generally a cage or space inside the building for a single company, or tenant.

So, quick recap. A data centre is a purpose-built facility designed to efficiently store, power, cool and connect your IT infrastructure. Colocation is one of many services data centres provide, and is the act of hosting your IT hardware (like servers) outside of your premises and in a data centre.

When you are looking for a place to host your business's data, you may be wondering what the difference is between colocation hosting and data center hosting. Here is a breakdown of the key differences:
With colocation hosting, your company will rent space in a data center. This space will come with all of the necessary infrastructure, such as racks, power, and cooling. You will then be responsible for bringing your own servers and equipment to this space.
With data center hosting, on the other hand, your company will not need to bring its own servers. The hosting company will provide all of the necessary equipment, including servers. This can be a good option if you do not have the resources or knowledge to set up and manage your own servers.
The other main difference between these two types of hosting is cost.

A data center is simply a term for a facility or room which houses data. Commonly just a place where servers are housed.

Colocation describes two or more things located together. In this context it refers to more than one company’s equipment being housed in the same facility.

Colocation is a type of hosting in data centers where a company offers space for you to host your equipment in the same facility as other companies or individuals.
