We're developing an e-commerce platform. We've a fair amount of research on what the market is wanting in terms of features/functionality, as well as what others are offering.

If you have a minute, would you mind outlining what your ideal e-commerce solution would look like?

Specifically:

What would you ideally want it to do?
What would be included?
What functionality would you expect for free?
What functionality would you expect to pay for?
What are your priorities in using a solution? I.e., #1 Customer Service, #2 Access To High-Quality Template Designs, #3 Easy Integration With Other Solutions, etc

Thanks in advance..

E-commerce website demands high amount of security as it involved online transactions. So you must look for a Secured Hosting provider whose servers are monitored round the clock by their admins. Their servers must be secured enough to prevent the websites from DDOS, Hacking or any malicious activitiy.

Another important aspect which should be looked for is uptime and connectivity. You should look for a solution which has 99.9 or 100% uptime. Cloud servers can be considered as one of the option as they offer 100% uptime. Website should also load quickly, so the end users doesn't need to wait for too long to see the products or browse your website. If the website goes down for any reasons and if there is no one to take care of this, you might have to bare huge economic losses.

So one more aspect will be 24X 7 Technical support. The hosting provider should also offer different types of SSL's which make your transactions secure. Having multiple SSL's will give you a option to choose a certificate according to your requirements and budget.
