How Important is the Choosing right SSL security certificate?

Choosing the best option for your SSL security certificate for your Website, whether a new certificate or a renewal, is one of the most important decisions you will make. How do you choose the best one, and from what company should you order? Here are the basics:

Domain Validation or DV SSL certificates (eg RapidSSL, GeoTrust QuickSSL, and Thawte SSL123) issue fastest but do not supply ownership information, which populates with a question mark in Internet Explorer and “(unknown)” in Mozilla Firefox.

Organization Validation or OV certificates (eg VeriSign Secure Site, GeoTrust True BusinessID, Thawte SSL Web Server) are the next step up. The certificates supply ownership information but do not supply the green address bar indicator to establish more confidence among site visitors.

Extended Validation SSL or EV SSL (https://www.thesslstore.com/extended-validation-ssl-certificates.aspx) Certificates (eg VeriSign Secure Site with EV, GeoTrust True BusinessID with EV, Thawte EV SSL (https://www.thesslstore.com/thawte/ssl-webserver-ev.aspx)) are the highest quality and most effective option. The certificates supply the green address bar, which according to VeriSign studies increase sales an average of 20%.

The other consideration is which company you should the order the certificate from. If you choose a company with a full catalog of quality, trusted brand name certificates, and reliable support, you can’t go wrong.

As we know that SSL certificates are a vital piece of technology for anyone running an online business. Any online store or ecommerce business should have an SSL certificate for website security to help protect transactions and customer's information.SSL certificates are used for securing financial and personal data provided by the customers at the time they purchase a product from any shopping portal and making transactions from their debit and credit cards at the same time.

Another type is wildcard ssl certificates (http://runssl.com/wildcard.html). They allow one cert to secure multiple sub domains such as mail.example.com and shop.example.com all with a single certificate.

as there are number of SSL certificates available, it is depending upon your need and requirement. As other suggests; EV SSL is good but what if my budget is tight? someone suggest wildcard SSL, but what if i don't want to secure multiple sub-domains?

This is why i strongly recommend discuss with SSL certificate provider, your IT manager and Your team about your requirement and decide the product accordingly.

all the best !!

I was skeptical about switching from another brand, but good god I did. It's been a pleasure using Comodo products. I ended up saving a lot of money.

I installed SSL certificate issued by Let's encrypt. It is free of charge, the downside is that you have to renew it every 90 days. But there is an auto-renew code available, Google it to get.

I believe that an SSL certificate is the most competitive industry compare to other web development services, so there are plenty of SSL re-sellers, who offers the cheapest prices for SSL certificates. I would advice go through the easy.gr (https://easy.gr/en/) re-seller, who offers the largest brands SSL certificates at the most competitive prices.

We have used SSL's from Comodo and GlobalSign. And yes Comodo is definitely good. Both companies are good when it comes to pricing and support.
