You should always keep an eye on your bandwidth usage as well because if you reach your limit, your website will not be accessible over Internet. You will have to contact your Hosting provider then and ask him to add more bandwidth or alternatives. This might result in downtime and you might suffer economic loss due to this.

Popular e-commerce sites need to be careful of exceeding their bandwidth as do businesses that get a lot of high-profile media coverage. When people visit your website, when they access or view the graphics and information on your site, it takes up space - that space is called bandwidth

You need to keep an eye on the bandwidth if you have an e-commerce website as if you have high traffic and you fall short of bandwidth, your site will be slow and won't be able to handle the load of the customers accessing it. The amount of bandwidth that you will need will depend on many factors like, how big your online store is, the average hits that you receive per month etc.

Bandwidth is important to every site and not only e-commerce site. No one will going to a site that slow and sometime face page not found and down.
This reasons may cause your customer do not trust on your side or may fed up with your website performance.

If the bandwidth exceeds, your site is opened to be a wrong page and it can not be accessed by the visitors, that is the sadest part.

Given the amount of bandwidth that most hosting companies give you nowadays it's very unlikely that you'll ever exceed more than a few gigabytes unless you have thousands of visitors a day. I have a plr articles ecommerce (http://www.plrarticleshop.com) website that gets around 150 visitors a day and sells digital downloads but only consumes about 2 GB of bandwidth each month.

Good question - one many people don't ask until their hosting account is suspended for exceeding their bandwidth.

Bandwidth is the amount of "traffic space" your website uses -- and it's usually measured per month by most hosting companies.

Popular e-commerce sites need to be careful of exceeding their bandwidth as do businesses that get a lot of high-profile media coverage. When people visit your website, when they access or view the graphics and information on your site, it takes up space - that space is called bandwidth.

A good rule of thumb is to ask your hosting company how they handle excess bandwidth usage. Some hosting companies will automatically bump you up to the next plan level while others will disable your account altogether - not good.

Ask your hosting company to recommend bandwidth levels based on existing traffic and then if you need to adjust it downward at the end of the month, you'll have that option

Let’s say your website is a grocery store checkout line. In this analogy, bandwidth would be the amount of lines you have opened at any given time, and as a result, the amount of checkers needed to manage said lines. If only one line is open and there happens to be a lot of customers in the store, you would need to hire more checkers in order to allow customers to move through your store quickly. This is why it is important to understand what kind of traffic your site will be getting, and plan your bandwidth specifications accordingly, because if you aren’t paying for high enough bandwidth your costs will go up significantly when you exceed your limit. Generally, a site that is purely content will need much less bandwidth than one that is a fully operational online store.

Higher-frequency transmissions have more bandwidth, which means higher-frequency transmissions can send substantially more data between devices in less time.
