TLD= top level domain name, it can be any .com. net, .org .gov .edu etc TLD. These are used to register your domain name, you can chose any one as per your requirements.

TLD stands for Top Level Domain
For example, in the domain name www.example.com, the top-level domain is .com (or .COM, as domain names are not case-sensitive)
The top-level domain space was organized into three main groups, Countries, Categories, and Multiorganizations (e.g., .uk, .in, .ja). etc.

For my knowledged, TLD stand for top level domain and the extension is including .Com / .Net / .Org / .Info / .Biz. And its applied accordingly to your hosting request and purpose.
