Suggestions for selection a brand domain name:

- Try to get a domain with a related "keyword"
- Try for the .com version of your desired domain name first
- Avoid hyphens and numbers in your domain (if possible)
- Avoid any possible trademark infringements
- Keep your domain as short as possible
- Consider a TLD in your "country code" like .in for INDIA
- Don't rush - the right domain is a strategic (long term) decision
- Consider buying your PERFECT domain from the current "owner" if it's for sale
- Choose a reputable domain name registrar! IMPORTANT!

The success of your business to a great extent depends on the domain name you've registered for the site. Internet users will find your site by the domain name. The choice of a domain name is very important as meaningful and easy-to-remember domainname will be found easier and more often.

Here are some tips to consider before registering a domain name:

Think of and look for the name that is related to your business, your products or your services. One of the best ways is to look for a domain name that includes your company name or your product name, because that is the first thing that people will try in their browsers. This is also a useful thing for search engine optimization (SEO).

If the desired domainname is already taken, consider alternate forms of the name. For www.domain.com for example, consider www.bestdomain.com, www.mydomain.com, www.thedomain.com and so on.

The .com extension is the most popular and most used domain extension. It's preferable to get a .com domain name. But if you can't get the .com domain name you want, then look for the name with other extensions. It's better to have a meaningful and easy-to-remember .net or .org domain than a .com domain that is not related to your business. The only draw back here is that people are used to websites ending in .com and they mix up your domainname with the same but .com ending one.

If you have found the proper domain name, consider purchasing multiple domains for the same website. This will protect you from the so-called 'competition'. So, if you have a site called www.yourdomain.com, you'd be interested in getting www.your-domain.com, www.yourdomain.us, www.yourdomain.net and others. This way all visitors will be forwarded to your site. This is helpful when a user mistypes your domain name (e.g. www.yourdoman.com or something of the kind).

You can check the domain availability by doing a WHOIS lookup. The following WHOIS sites can be used to check the domain:
