How good are they? I'm thinking about choosing their 7.95 plan. Do you think that their servers allow more max connections than yahoo's servers using starter plan?

You have to email them about the mysql max connections.

I agree you would need to email them some pre-sales questions.
They do have a few reviews here at hostsearch:

and Im sure you will find plenty of feedback over at webhostingtalk.com

I believe one of the owners was very active at webhostingtalk. Your bets bet is to contact them and ask about the MySQL connection limitations...

mysql connection is one issue. You have to look at their support. If anything screw up, you can get immediate help from them rather than waiting for days for an answer.

To be honest if you do not keep persistent MySQL connections, you should be more than fine with 50. How much does the Yahoo's plan cost?

it's 11.95

compared to midphase's 7.95

the thing that i'm worried about the most is server's performance, i'm not a newbie in web administration (i know how to upload mysql databases etc) but i've never used a paid host before. midphase gives 1,5 tb of bandwidth a month compared to yahoo's 200 gb. I'm not really concerned about bandwidth so i don't really care how much do they give. all i need is a fast reliable host which allows as much users as possible (for a shared hosting)

a good host company

Would you care to explain what you mean by this one line statement? And how do you know this hosting company is good? Have you used their services in the past or do you currently use their services? If so what domain do you have hosted with them?
