Do you have a domain name registered yet? I would recommend getting your domain registration done first and then select a host. Your choices will be overwhelming though. You can do a simple search at www.hostsearch.com or look through the "offers" forum here and see whats listed. I HIGHLY recommend emailing some potential hosts BEFORE signing up anywhere. There are far too many fly by night companies so do your research well! Its also wise to run any company name through google.com as feedback will result.

Exactly! What I normally tell people is to research and choose maybe half dozen or so hosts that you feel fit your needs. Then research them some more. Come in here and ask questions and experiences of others, looking for feedback, etc. Then contact each host, you'll be able to check response times and the types of responses you get.
Sounds like a lot of work, and it is, but if you take your time now and find a host that's good for you, you'll save yourself a lot more time and headachs in the long run. Best of luck!
Get your domain name first, like Martie said. And most hosts (if not all) offer free blog software with most of their plans.

Make a list of hosting companies that you may want to host with. Next, search around for reviews about their service. And finally, email them to test their response time.

From the link in your signature I see that you've already have a blog on blogspot. There is one major problem with that - you don't own the domain. Firts buy a good domain, and then research several hosts and choose the one you believe is the best. Make sure that the host you choose offers unconditional money back guarantee for at least 30 days, this way if you don't like the service you can move on and get a refund.

I think that it would be great to know your budget and which hosting companies do you keep in mind.

If you decide to choose a hosting plan, have a look at these suggestions:

serverhostplus (http://www.serverhostplus.com/) with unlimited domain hosting, low cost and quick setup;

Hi,

As outlined in our forum rules, can you please specify why you are recommending these hosts? And whether you are a current customer of any of the hosts advertised, if so please provide your domain name.

As your requirement is not so big, so can easily go with the shared hosting plans, or if you need some better security as I Feel your site may contain some critical information related to the investments, you should try using VPS.

I think you can choose shared hosting plan and you should find suitable one on some forums that related to hosting.
