Some features of Microsoft Exchange accounts depend on the version of Exchange that your account connects to. An example is the Outlook Anywhere feature, which requires Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 or later.
To determine the version of Exchange that your account connects to, do the following:
1. With Microsoft Office Outlook running, press and hold CTRL while you right-click the Microsoft Outlook icon in the notification area, at the far right of the taskbar.
2. Click Connection Status.
3. Move the horizontal slider all the way to the right.
Note Under the Version column heading, note the number that appears.
4. Compare the number with those in the table below

Microsoft Exchange Server Version ------------------Version
Microsoft Exchange Server 2000 ----------------------6.0.4417 or higher
Microsoft Exchange Server 2000 SP1 ----------------6.0.4712 or higher
Microsoft Exchange Server 2000 SP2 ----------------6.0.5762 or higher
Microsoft Exchange Server 2000 SP3 ----------------6.0.6249 or higher
Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 ----------------------6.5.6944 or higher
Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 SP1-----------------6.5.7226 or higher
Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 SP2-----------------6.5.7638 or higher
Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 ----------------------8.0.685.24 or higher

Note: Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 can be used with Microsoft Exchange Server 2000 or later.

Log in to your Microsoft Exchange account using Outlook or Outlook Web App (OWA).
Once you are logged in, navigate to the "File" or "Settings" menu.
In Outlook, click on "Office Account" or "Account Settings," and in OWA, click on the settings icon (usually represented by a gear or cog symbol).
Look for an option such as "About," "Help," or "About Microsoft Exchange" and click on it.
A window or page should open, displaying information about your Microsoft Exchange version, including the specific version number or name.
