Sure, you can use the Windows Firewall if your are using Windows Server. For a Linux Server the security is much more and you already have Firewall.

Most of the servers are using Linux based operating software, which is much more secure than any other server or OS, but still extra protection is always good.

I'm looking for answers from people who are experts in security. I believe that this is an important question, and the answer will benefit more than just myself and the company I work for. I've been running our server network for several years without a compromise, without any firewalling at all.

I recommend you check out Pulse Servers (http://www.pulseservers.com). If you're looking for a hardware firewall with DDoS protection, this is it.

So let’s start from you. What kind of server security tips you would like to share? :)

You have IPtalbles default on Linux distro servers. You can configure it to restrict and allow IPs / packets. To harder the security, SSH ports, strong passwords, FTP details, etc need to be changed from the defaults.
Further implement CSF Firewall- available for Linux- simple and easy to install and configure. There are other tools like Brute Force Detection tools, etc which add to the security.
A managed server usually comes with the Security tools to harden your server. Hope this helps :)

The majority of the servers are utilizing Linux based working programming, which is substantially more secure than whatever other server or OS, yet at the same time additional assurance is constantly great.

Absolutely, just try to be careful not to firewall yourself out of your own VPS. If this happens to you, you can utilise the rescue feature within control panel to get out from the situation.

Firewalls are similar to proxy servers in that they enforce security primarily based on an IP-address and network-offerings protection policy. However, you may alter a firewall's policy much more without problems than you may a proxy server's. You can block or open precise ports to let a new service in or to preserve one out, making it less complicated to trade the network's safety coverage. This characteristic is called packet-layer filtering, which means the firewall evaluates primarily based on characteristics of individual packets as they come on the interface rather than the application-layer gateway's technique of comparing the request itself, which might also require reassembling numerous packets before the evaluation takes place.

You can and you should! Firewalls are a foundational tool for cybersecurity that every organization and individual needs to use. Server firewalls manage server access and authorize network data packets. It is an effective filter between a server and the thousands of connections the server makes in a day.
It’s the best defense against DDoS attacks, brute force attacks, or malware infections. If a hacker gains access to your web server, they could potentially deface your website, infect your visitors with embedded malware, leak login credentials, or completely take down your website.
If you’re worried about network and server security, managed security providers like ACE MSS ensure network and endpoint security with multi-layered security solutions. Consult ACE experts on the best ways to strengthen your security posture against advanced attacks.

Its very important to install firewall on server to secure server from hackers. Firewall secure our server, also we can set it according to our requirement. We are using configserver firewall (https://hoststud.com/resources/how-to-install-and-configure-csf-firewall.19/) (CSF) on our server to secure our server.
