Most article publishing websites and blogs like Hubpages let you tag your posts and articles with descriptive labels like "rugby" and "Australia."

And you've probably heard that you get traffic by using keywords, the words and phrases people type in to search the web with Google or other search engines.

what is the difference between tags and keywords? They're not the same thing, and they do not work the same way. Unfortunately, many article publishing sites conflate the two.

Keywords are used by search engines to identify what your blog and your blog articles are about. While Tags are self-assigned “labels” that you can use to categorize the posts on your blog and article.

A keyword is what you want a page or post known for. This is the word or phrase you research on the Google keyword tool and the search bar to determine what people are actually looking for and how high is your competition.
A TAG is a word or phrase that will categorize your post into clumps of posts all carrying that same tag.
