The page title is the MOST important thing about the page.
The tough thing is to balance the best title for SEO with the best title for the READER. You need to tell the reader why they should click on your title, but the more words you use, the less seo effect it has. The best thing for seo would be "portable trade show displays" but the best thing to get readers to click your title instead of someone else's might be "portable trade show booths | online ordering, free shipping"... It's all a matter of balance!

Title plays an important role in seo. Thanks for giving us the important tips about title. Title should be in such a way that it should explain about the web page, its not only mixed with keywords, keywords should be used within the page title but don't jumble it with keywords. IT appears like spam to SE's if we do so.

homer
10-23-2009, 07:56 PM
Uniqueness is very important. Your point is all correct. The title page should be in line with your content of course! I think you have to be very careful in choosing your keywords because it'll surely affect your entire page ranking. You have to think of a title that will really get the attention of many and also that will contribute added points to your PR.

Page Title an important part of OnPage Optimization, although most of the SEOs ignore it because they prefer offpage optimization like link building and article submission. But keep in mind that Google may come with any plan to discourage the link building (offpage optimization) but your OnPage Optimization is your real asset and it will give you benefit with the passage of time.

Now what kind of title page should be, it must be simple, combination of your keyword, don't repeat the keywords in title page.

Keep the length smaller as some search engine reads only 60-70 words of your title.

I hope these information helpful for creating a good title for your page. Thanks

with keyword rich title, it should be meaningful so users can have idea about webpage and we can get click for our ranking on search engines. Some times, we are placing just keywords in title, and getting good ranking but still we have not much more visitors, reason behind this is meaningful title.

Title should have meaning and cover all information related to page just in 63 to 70 characters, so user can understand and we can have visit from that ranking.

The web page Title is the chief thing which places a first dint on guest. It shows a very important part in enticing a visitor market. It ought to not be excessively long or too little as well as it must not cover too much key words in it.

Ken Peterson

Make it short. Google only looks at the first 70 characters so make the first 70 count.

Don’t keyword stuff and don’t repeat the same word over and over. Nothing says lame like “Learn Guitar with Guitar Lessons from Guitar Teachers.”

Use specific titles for each page. Simply put, don’t use the same title across your site. Make each title about the specific topic of the page. “Beginner Piano Lessons on DVD” is much better than “Piano Lesson Reviews” on each page.

Consider including 3 elements in your title. These days every one knows that it can be important to have your researched keyword phrase included in your title. But then what do some people do? Often you'll see people stuffing their Title full of keywords in hopes that they may show up for those terms. "Keyword stuffing" is not competent SEO no matter who may think so and it's not recommended. Instead, your focus is to always create high quality, useful content that will please visitors. Your title needs to be compelling and it needs to read well and it should make sense to the reader.

1. Using Dates – Using dates in titles are a great way to attract attention. Numbers stick out like a sore thumb when up against traditional titles that most companies use.

Example: School Supplies |Supply Prices Updated March 2011

2. Discounts – Using sale prices and discounts in your titles can really make it standout from the crowd. Once again, numbers attract eyeballs and so do sales!

Example: School Supplies on Sale 15% Off | ExampleSite.com

3. Superlative Words – Words like Best, Top, Great, and Cheap work very well in titles. Search users are drawn to these words because they are always looking for the “BEST” source of information.

It is better to place your service or products in short descriptive sentences in such a way that your title contains your most important keywords (60 characters is recommended) rather than placing your company/domain name. This is because most Internet users search for specific products or services, not company names. But if you strongly feel like placing your company name in your title tag, then place it at the end of this tag.

Here are five simple On Page SEO tips and how to maximize each of them:On Page SEO Advice:
1 Title Tags: website source code header between the elements. For writing compelling and interesting title tags, title lengths should be limited to 65 characters. The title should consist of 2 or 3 keyword phrases. Longer phrases are more advantageous than shorter ones. Separator characters like bar or pipe, hyphens, arrow, and commas should also be used. Make sure the title reflects everything that can be found on the webpage.
2 Heading Tags:Is used to advise the search engines about what the content of an article or webpage is going to be about. The heading of your webpage would be most likely a H1 tag, and sub heading as you progress down the page would be an H2 or H3. Make sure the heading is relevant to the paragraph below.
3 Keyword Density: This is very important in achieving high page ranking in search engines such as Yahoo and Google. Article directories have different requirements for keyword density but the ideal Keyword stuffing should be avoided to avoid identifying the article as spam.
4 Anchored Keyword Inter linking: It is a good technique to use anchor text links within blog posts in order to spread the link throughout the website.
5 Image SEO: For the SEO to be effective in using file images, one should take into account the surrounding text which will help the visitors know more about the image posted. Renaming the image with a keyword is also a good technique, as also will giving the image an alt text description.

Below are 6 of my top tips for writing page titles that are going to get searchers clicking.

Make your title a balance between keywords and a benefit statement. The keywords will help with ranking and the benefit statement will help entice the searcher to click through to your website.

Only include 1 or 2 keyword phrases in each title to avoid overstuffing.

Watch your character count – Google only displays up to 70 chareacters of a title page in their SERP’s, so it’s best to make your title stand out in 60ish characters (including spaces).

Always make each title unique and include your main page keyphrases. Always.

Use a hyphen (-) or pipe (|) to separate keyword phrases in your title and make it easier to read. Here is a good example:
