Avoid these:

# Avoid large graphic files and flash that take longer time to load.
# Color combination overlapping text and making it hard to read.
# Over complex navigation.
# Animations that never stop. :)
# Complicated frames or too many frames.

Friends

1) Don't bother putting 'Eye Candy' on your site like java clocks and menus with sounds.

2) A very common mistake to make when designing a web site is to think that your users know exactly where on your site to find what they are working for.

Thanks,
Eric

Well, I don't really want to minimize images, but I can definitely optimize them. Images are a big part of the website I am building for a volunteer organization as we need compelling images to share our story.

Thanks for the tips.

Thanks for your valuable suggestion. It really helps us much while designing a website. However, a flash file takes time to load compare to normal text site and doing SEO for flash site is also difficult one.

You should try to use less animation in your website as having a lot of animation can increase the loading time of your website. This would not be such a big problem in desktops and laptops which have powerful processors and high speed internet connection but for cellular phones and other devices which are not that powerful this can cause decrease in loading time of your website.
