for Free hosting i checked netfirms.com and they provide Cuteftp uploader plus some addons. i made one account and that is still working so its free.

I have heard only nice words of serverpoint activity in the IT market.
Their servers are online always, no downtime or something like that.
Moreover prices are not high on their dedis.
