In layman's terms, indexing is the process of adding web pages into Google search.
Indexing is a data structure approach to efficiently restore records from the database files based on some attributes on which the indexing has been done.
Indexing is updating the cached webpages in search engine database. Indexed webpages are now ready for search engine rankings.
Indexing refers to the organization of data according to a specific schema or plan. In IT, the term has various similar uses including, among other things, making information more presentable and accessible.
An index is another name for the database used by a search engine. Indexes contain the information on all the websites that Google (or any other search engine) was able to find. If a website is not in a search engine's index, users will not be able to find it.
