They must be super small or super new. Try doing a google search for HostworkSAP and the only thing you will find is your own post. I'd say be careful with a host that fresh out of the box.
Here is some free code for an ASP calendar. It looks pretty bad but it is free... What kind of scripting language are you looking for?

Try Webhosting Link. I was just doing some research on their company for an interview with HostSearch and they offer tons of email addresses.
There is no governing body that I know of because it wouldn't have any power internationally. So many hosts are not in the US so there wouldn't be much point.
I agree with you that even the free...

It seems like they are all like that too... I think IT staff in general have very little in the way of customer service skills. They just make their changes and leave you holding the bag.

I think reputation is extremely important. If you are going for a low-cost shared hosting plan then besides space, bandwidth, and cost the only thing that matters is customer service. The company's...
Try doing a google search for 'bullet proof' hosting. Basically, it means they let you use their servers for spamming and keep your identity secret. A lot of them are in China.
That's interesting. I just read an article about free hosting being used for spyware. http://informationweek.com/story/showArticle.jhtml?articleID=166402311
