i thought page size is doesn't matter in seo. it's the speed the page is downloaded on the user's device that matters (although there is of course a relation between these two).

Page size does not count in SEO. Page speed matters and website must be responsive.

Page Size matters as it increases the Page Speed. And it is good to have a less page size in order to reduce the page loading time.
