Google Autocomplete is a feature used by Google search engine in which the type automatically comes or rather fills in as the user searches or types

Here are few of the examples

Suppose if i type in best Hotels in .............................

Then there will be various options that you will see below like

    in vietnam

    in Vegas

    in Chicago

    in San Fransico

As the name suggests Google Autocomplete completes the user's search query

Google's Autocomplete service (example shown above) is a technical term used for the search suggestions you see when searching Google. This service is intended to speed up your search interaction by trying to predict what you are searching for when using Google. When you enable autocomplete on your search engine, users will be able to see lists of useful queries as they start typing in your search box. For example, if your CSE contains sites about classical composers and a user types ta into the search box, she might see autocompletions like tallis and taverner". Google automatically generates autocompletions by analyzing a variety of characteristics of your custom search engine, including the content of the pages it contains.

    Activate autocomplete
    • On the Custom Search home page, click the search engine you want.
    • Click Search features, and then click the Autocomplete tab.
    • Switch Enable autocomplete to ON.

When you start a search on Google, you can find the information you’re looking for faster using search predictions. Search predictions are possible search terms you can use that are related to the terms you’re typing and what other people are searching for.

As you type, Google's algorithm predicts and displays search queries based on other users' search activities. In addition, if you're signed in to your Google Account and have Web History enabled, you may see search queries from relevant searches that you've done in the past. All of the predicted queries that are shown in the drop-down list have been typed previously by Google users.

It’s a well known feature of Google. Start typing in a search, and Google offers suggestions before you’ve even finished typing. But how does Google come up with those suggestions? When does Google remove some suggestions? When does Google decide not to interfere? Come along for some answers.

    Google & Search Suggestions
Google was not the first search engine to offer search suggestions, nor it is the only one. But being the most popular search engine has caused many to look at Google’s suggestions more closely.
