A couple of my customers want to install Mailing List software. I really don't want them to do this, but if they really have to to, what's the least intrusive package? Are there any worthy 3rd party services to recommend as an alternative?

Hi,
You can find some great scripts at
http://www.hotscripts.com/PHP/Script...List_Managers/
And
http://php.resourceindex.com/Complet...Mailing_Lists/
Usually non-CGI based scripts from my experience tend to be less resource intensive, so maybe you could recommend a PHP based script to do the job.
Good luck, keep us posted on how things go.
Hi,
Thought I would also recommend Lyris ListManager, its used by plenty of companies so it must be good and reliable, check it out and see if it meets your needs: Hi Dave,
I would consider looking at Lyris ListManager; it’s used a lot by plenty of companies so it must be reliable.

I can not express how much we like 1-2-All E-mail: http://www.activecampaign.com/12all/. Once of the best PHP scripts out there
If they use cPanel, can't they use the integrated mailman list? I would think that's enough to maintain a decent list.

Mailman is superb. Huge mailing lists are using it. Your customers will be fine with it. Just told them to install it via cpanel and done.

We use SendStudio http://www.interspire.com/sendstudio and are delighted with it.
Before that we used oempro.... wasn't happy with that company at all.
It may work wonders, but it's documentation is pathetic. Unless you are a power-user, you'll never understand how to make it run properly. I would consider something a little more user-friendly, such as phplist, which is available via the Fantastico installation.
Or you can find it at: http://www.phplist.com/
I would consider that option before you drive yourself crazy over Mailman.
Peace,
Gene Steinberg

I just thought... there is a difference between mailing lists and newsletters.
so in his case lyris or mailman might work.
I am pretty sure phplist does newsletters, not let a group of users communicate through a list.
phplist is cool and has lots of features and more over its free enjoy
I have been using phplist for a long time now - its quite reliable but yes not that much user friendly.
Agreed. This is the best place to start serching.
Also have some to suggest:
GNU Mailing List Manager
Mailing List Deluxe
ServerPoint.com - a true hosting company offering online presence solutions since 1998
Web Hosting, colocation, dedicated servers, Virtual Private Server (VPS) hosting
Wholly owned multi homed network, servers and facilities
I would suggest to go with phplist or MailMan. Both are superb. Most of the clients are using them according to their need.
