Google Panda was an algorithm update rolled out by Google in February 2011. The purpose of this update was to provide more quality and credible search results and take out any of the low quality or thin websites that were carrying out unfair black hat SEO practices like algorithm manipulation, keywords stuffing etc.

Google Panda takes the quality of a site’s content into account when ranking sites in the search results. For sites that have lower quality content, they would likely find themselves negatively impacted by Panda. As a result, this causes higher quality content to surface higher in the search results, meaning higher quality content is often rewarded with higher rankings, while low-quality content drops.

It is Google's search engine algorithm. It was released in February 2011. It ranks the low quality and thin sites. Panda penalization is a sudden drop in your website’s organic traffic or search engine rankings correlating with a known date of an algorithm update. If you will find the sudden break in web site traffic then please take the necessary actions to keep website on it's rank.

Google Panda are basically based on content spamming in the website , in which if google find the duplicate content on your website then google penalize your website and decrease the search engine ranking.
