If the visitor just visits the single page on site and did not access the other pages that time it is called bounce rate.

This might be case that visitor has bookmarked the link or means that contents on your website are engaging him and are quality contents.
He may have got the required information from home page only that is why he has not checked the other pages.

But as he did not accessed it more, it is consider as bounce. Bounce rate should always be low.

Here are some tips for you -

    1. Upload the quality contents on the website which are easy to read.
    2. There should be easy navigation on your website.
    3. Make your website responsive so it become easy to access on the mobile, tablet or computer.
    4. Page load time should be good.

There are plugins available which can decrease the bounce rate.

A bounce is a single-page session on your site. In Analytics, a bounce is calculated specifically as a session that triggers only a single request to the Analytics server

In Web analytics, including Google Analytics, bounce rate is the measurement in percentage of how many Web site visitors view only one page within your Web site – this is the one page they entered the site on (called the entrance page or landing page). These visitors view only that single page and exit the site on that same page. A high bounce rate typically indicates that the landing page isn't relevant to your visitor or you are not offering any incentive for the visitor to explore other areas and pages of your website.

By definition, this means the number of single-page visits by visitors of your website. Bounce rate in terms of website traffic lets you know about the visitors who arrive on your website and leave without initiating any other action or event, like visiting a second page. He came, he saw and he went somewhere else. The visitor enters the website on the entrance page or the landing page. These visitors view only that single page and exit the site on that same page. For example, around 100 visitors read a particular news story yesterday, out of which 75 went to other pages while 25 did not. The bounce rate, thus, was 25%. Bounce rates are often used for measuring the performance of e-mails, websites, advertising campaigns, and particular landing pages. Bounce rate is measured in percentage.

I think that Google doesn't actually calculate bounce rate properly. You can add extra code to your Google Analytics code to fix how bounce rate is calculated. so the 1st step is the bounce rate will decrease when the post is very good and the rest of the posts are very attracted content.

A high bounce rate can be a sign that your content is not targeted to the visitors wants and needs, but a high bounce rate can also be a positive indicator.
