'Rel' is nothing but the relationship link. It has the link with the page which is pointing to it. When we used to add rel="nofollow" to the hyperlink that time it indicate that hyperlink's destination should not be afforded by any weight or ranking.

Nofollow links are intended to reduce the effectiveness of certain types of search engine spam, thereby improving the quality of search engine results and preventing spamdexing from occurring in the first place.

No follow links good for traffic generation. Major social media platform gives no follow links even quora.com but such platforms are good for traffic generation towards your website.

    Hello ruhikhan
The rel attribute defines the relationship that the linked resource has to the document from which it's referenced. Hope you understand it.

Rel NoFollow is an elemental micro-format, one of several micro-format open standards. By adding relnofollow to a hyperlink, a page indicates that the destination of that hyperlink should not be afforded any additional weight or ranking by user agents which perform link analysis upon web pages . It was used on individual links, preventing robots from following individual links on a page required a great deal of effort .

Assigning the rel="nofollow" attribute to a link informs search engines that the link is commercial in nature, or that it's a link you don't endorse.

    Hi

nofollow is a value that can be assigned to the rel attribute of an HTML a element to instruct some search engines that the hyperlink should not influence the ranking of the link's target in the search engine's index.
