    I think it is really important to know if your site has been penalized by Google. Here are few indications you might look for:
    - a sudden or steady drop in rank;
    - check webmaster tools for a manual penalty;
    - stay current regarding the Google updates.

    • check if you've received a warning message in Google Webmaster Tools - if there is no penalty notice from Google informing you that they have penalized your site due to violation of their quality quidelines, then this is a good sign you'd like to see.
    • check if you lose Organic Rankings of your target keywords - if your site penalized, most of your target keywords will lose their organic rankings in search results.
    • ask your SEO company - if you hire an SEO Company helping you to boost your site ranking on Google search results, ask them to explain the tactics and strategies they've been using, ask them to check if your site has been penalized.

    In the google search box put your keywords check you are getting ranking for those keywords for those you previously got ranking; if presently you are not getting any kind of ranking but previously you used to get then your site may be penalized already and check Google Search Console, is there any manual actions or special messages are there or not.

    There are 2 ways to check the penalized or banned websites.

    1. Through Google Webmaster tool, check the status of your website.
    2. Manually check by typing the name or URL of your website on the search box. If it's not there, it means your website's got penalized or banned.

    When we search the name of a website without www. or extension like .com or any other then if the website appears in search then it's not penalized nor banned and if we don’t find it then it may be penalized or banned.

    Check the status of your website through SEO tool named Google Webmaaster tool. Also you can check manually by typing the website url on google. If it is not there then consider that it's banned or penalized.

    You just need to search that domain name in Google or other search engines, if you don't find pages related to the domain anywhere on the results then consider that it may be banned.
