Cloud hosting or clustered hosting is the web host service uses a server network. These servers aren’t necessarily located in the same site or data center. In fact, the cloud technology allows servers to be scattered around the globe.

Cloud hosting is a service wherein ur data and application is stored at the data center. The data can be accessed through the net. you can even run your applications over cloud. So in a simple language cloud hosting is where u store ur data and apps in order to avoid high infrastructure and maintenance cost. Scalability is another feature provided by cloud hosting providers, in this u can scale ur hardware based on requirement.
There are a few negatives too for cloud. so if u need more info ,let me know.

Hey m sorry for replying so late.
I know i might confuse u a bit, so get ready. It depends, if the cloud service u are using is for individual use it is reliable as PC is at a greater risk. Also the security provided by individual PC users is nothing compared to cloud. So it can be assumed that ur data is much safe on cloud than on ur PC. Now consider the case of companies which are moving all of their data to cloud. (Even US government and many banks are going on clouds) So the amount of sensitive data present on the cloud is extremely high. Although for such sensitive data cloud service providers are offering 256 bit, 448 bit and some even 512 bit encryption. Now to hack into this system will take a lot of years and that's a fact. But as this data can be accessed from any location and at any time, a person with high level security clearance who can access this data, if is supposedly put under duress, data can be obtained easily.

    Cloud computing

Cloud computing refers to the delivery of computing and storage capacity[citation needed] as a service to a heterogeneous community of end-recipients. The name comes from the use of clouds as an abstraction for the complex infrastructure it contains in system diagrams[citation needed]. Cloud computing entrusts services with a user's data, software and computation over a network. It has considerable overlap with software as a service (SaaS).

It is a is a new type of hosting platform that allows customers powerful, scalable and reliable hosting based on clustered load-balanced servers and utility billing. A cloud hosted website may be more reliable than alternatives since other computers in the cloud can compensate when a single piece of hardware goes down.

Cloud hosting means Using a number of servers hosted elsewhere to create a large pool of server capability for server resources. This is a good way to make sure resources are available as well as manage costs. Currently for big companies due to cost.

Changing the technological landscape, Cloud Servers are rapidly becoming the mainstream in the IT enterprise and web hosting industry. "Cloud" can be defined as multi-servers connected together in a network, to form a redundant, scalable hosting solution.

The purity of Cloud hosting is that continuously available and expansion highly flexible. However, it is far beyond the control of the user how this is achieved and maintained. This limits security and control as it is not possible to be sure where data is stored at any given time as it could be spread across any number of cloud machines.

    Benefits of Cloud hosting:
    • High availability.
    • Ideal for unpredictable traffic.
    • Ideal for unpredictable resource usage.
