Link farming was adapted to help increase the PageRank of member pages. However, the link farms became susceptible to manipulation by unscrupulous webmasters who joined the services.

The process of exchanging reciprocal links with Web sites in order to increase search engine optimization. The idea behind link farming is to increase the number of sites that link to yours because search engines such as Google rank sites according to, among other things, the quality and quantity of sites that link to yours. In theory, the more sites that link to yours, the higher your ranking in the search engine results will be because the more links indicate a higher level of popularity among users of the Internet. However, search engines such as Google consider link farming as a form of spam and have been implementing procedures to banish sites that participate in link farming, so the term link farming has garnered negative connotations across the Internet.

You more than probably are already familiar with the concept of link farming because even some websites are having certain links sections which may be like farms, simply containing tens of links pointing at tens of domains, all having different niches and business fields, and so the whole pages would be actually useless as there is no content to read and find and the links are artificially added to affect the websites ranks.

Yes it is. It is a very popular technique, despite that, it is definitely black hat. I personally am not a fan of reciprocal links either. A few of them won't do any harm, but a bunch or a whole farm, will only do you harm in every possible way. One way linking is the best and safest method.

A link farm is a website (or a group of websites) created only for the purpose of increasing the link popularity of another site by increasing the number of incoming links. A link farm usually looks like a regular web page, but the majority of the content is hyperlinks -- often random and unrelated -- to other websites.

Link Farm consists of four blocks of land within a 40-minute radius around the Manawatu. The deer finishing block is situated in Halcombe and the day-to-day running is done by Rex Williams, Stock Manager. Link Farm also has a free draining river block, which is used for wintering cattle and cropping, and two blocks on the outskirts of Palmerston North, used for sheep, beef and cropping.

A strength of Link Farm is the ability to increase land sustainability through utilising land to the best of its ability and matching stock policies to land type depending on weather e.g. in wet weather heavy stock is moved to the free draining river block to avoid pugging.

Integral to the whole operation is Scott Linklater, who three years ago returned from his OE. Since then he has taken over the reins as Operational Manager for Link Farm, allowing his father Ross to dedicate more time to his busy schedule as a Palmerston City Councillor and Director of Farmlands (a New Zealand rural supplies business).

First Light appealed to Link Farm due to being a co-ordinated marketing approach that then links well with the production. They like the team effort and feel the gains far outweigh what an individual can achieve “A team approach irons out the highs and lows”. They also appreciate the supply and pricing structure that First Light offers as it allows them to take a more planned and strategic approach to the business “We know what we’re going to get, which allows us to better produce well farmed, high quality meat.”

For Ross nothing beats a “beautifully cooked venison steak on the BBQ”. For Scott this means “just seared — not too cooked”. Either way you’ll know the venison you’re eating will have “quality assurance of a very high standard throughout the whole operation”.
