    Your homepage should include some textual content, giving you the ability to display the search engines and visitors what your site is about and to persuade search engines to index your category. Meta tags are one of the most important factors to consider when optimizing a website for search engines and much consideration should be used prior to implementation.

    Did you mean the factors used for the page ranking? If it is, the different search engines uses different factors that's why you get different rankings from each search engine. And these factors changes from time to time, so it is hard to tell which factor they are currently using.

    PageRank is a way how Google evaluates your site is trusted. If you have a large number of quality inbound links from reputable sites, this means that other sites that you trust, therefore, Google trusts you. However PageRank and keyword ranking are not the same. Are you high PageRank and your site is optimized for specific keywords, keyword rankings of your site will be high.

    The term On Page Optimization refers to just that: optimization that is done directly on a specific webpage to achieve better search engine rankings. This could mean on the visible parts of the page (what the viewer or customer can see) or in the code or invisible parts of the page. This is all done directly on the .html ‘file or ‘page’ which is the reason for the name On Page Optimization. Conversely, Off Page Optimization refers to the Optimization of a page by techniques and measures that are not implemented directly on the .html “page” or file. Detailed information about this approach to gaining better search engine rankings can be found on our Off Page Optimization page.

    The definition of optimization, according to Merriam-Webster, is “an act, process, or methodology of making something (as a design, system, or decision) as fully perfect, functional, or effective as possible.” At SEO Visions, our definition of optimization is identical to Merriam-Webster’s with the exception of one word: “an act, process, or methodology of making something (as a design, system, or decision) as fully perfect, functional, and effective as possible.” So, the term 'On Page Optimization' simply refers to using On Page Optimization techniques (for better search engine ranking) to make the page itself as perfect (as in copy and content, minimal coding), functional (as in link structure, anchors and navigation) and effective (in ranking and conversion using keywords research analysis and funnel marketing) as possible.

    Important On-Page Factors for Search Engine Optimization:
    * Ability for search engines to “crawl” your website
    * Relevance of your website’s content to the search phrase
    * Originality and quality of the content on your website
    * Consistent new content
    * Technical aspects such as:
    o Page titles matching the targeted search phrase
    o Headers throughout your content matching the targeted search phrase

    Important Off-Page Factors for Search Engine Optimization:

    * Number of websites linking to your website
    * Relevance of websites linking to your website
    * Overall quality of the websites linking to your website
    These are decent tips for the beginner. Experience, really, is the best teacher - that and common sense.
