The only thing you would have to do is imagine that Your website is a living human, who needs a place to live. So, co-location is like a private mansion. It’s different from the previous option only with the fact that the mansion is your own property; the construction was based on your plan, on your money.
The host owns only the land beneath it, and all the communications (water, gas, electricity, etc.). Unlike in real life, this house is still a lot easier to move to another website with another host.

This service, which has not been picked up by a good Russian lexical equivalent, means placing your server on a network of the provider, on his server platform. You will have to take care about data integrity, website availability and traffic; the provider also offers you the needed space, power, the Internet access, security, and possible support.

In addition to all the services for the placement of your website, hosting companies also provide you with additional services that you may also be interested in: domain name registration, domain parking, reselling.
It is not that difficult to draw parallels from the life for these services.

Colocation services provide you the freedom of buying your own server with your required configuration and just place it at required infrastructure at low cost in the form of rent. Thus you can avoid buying any hardware from a web hosting company and still use their data center to place your server. Normally it is an costly affair to build hosting infrastructure for a single or two servers, so in such cases colocation service is the perfect solution.

Colocating the server gives you the greatest flexibility. You get to choose the hardware configuration of the server and the software that goes on it.

The hosting company maintains the connection to the Internet and deals with environmental details such as uninterruptible power supplies (UPSs), fire controls, and air conditioning. On the other hand, you're responsible for that server's upkeep.

As a hosting expert i want share my view towards Collocated hosting.Collocated hosting is similar to dedicated hosting with the difference that you actually own the server, so, beside software upgrades, you can buy hardware upgrades too (more memory, larger hard drives, etc.). The main advantage of Collocated hosting is that the server stays in protected environment, with optimal connections to the Internet, rather than staying in an office or at home.Do you have any idea about disadvantage of Collocated hosting? If yes then share your opinion with us.

Co-located Hosting - A co-located hosting plan requires you to purchase a web server that is located at a third party facility designed with resources which include: a secured cage or cabinet, regulated power, dedicated internet connection, security and support. These co-location facilities offer the customer a secure place to physically house their hardware and equipment as opposed to locating it in their offices or warehouse where the potential for fire, theft or vandalism is much greater. While a co-located solution is perfect for businesses who require a large amount of bandwidth and storage, physical access to your server may be an issue.

Colocation refers to placing your server in a third party data center which would be maintained by a service provider on your behalf.

Colocating a server has various advantages:
Firstly, you don't have to worry about the up keep and administration of the server.

Next, it may not be feasible to house a server on your premise due to lack of appropriate infrastructure so you need to
place it with a colocation provider.

It also allows you to have a server of your choice rather then choosing what's available with a hosting provider which may not be what meets your needs.

Colocation is perfect for those who wish to control their own server but don't have the facilities to be able to host it at their own premises.
