I just want to know some benefits/advantages of colocation hosting.
Any sharing about this matter will be highly appreciated.
I think very good....
The prime advantages you will get with colocation are:
Performance (as you will be determining the hardware specifications)
More control over server administration
Before deciding if colocation is right for you, there are several factors to consider. First, you must look carefully at the fee structure. Colocation, unlike dedicated servers, requires payment of both rental and connection fees. You will pay a rental fee for the physical space your server will occupy at the host company.
The main advantage ot Co-location is that you own the hardware. You need to invent more money in the beginning while purchasing but after you co-locate the hardware in any datacenter, you just need to pay the power and bandwidth prices. And even if you cancel the services with any datacenter, you can take your hardware with you and con-locate in some other datacenter.
The advantages can be that its customizable, security, high bandwidh is available, storage space can be high, flexibility, saves the overall hosting cost in long term. Co-location benifits you more in long term rather than on short term.
The main benefits of Colocation Hosting include
i am new here.....

Well, I believe that there are many advantages of using colocation:
- Better Connectivity,
- Improved Network security,
- Easy disaster recovery,
- Financial Gains.
Have to agree with the posts on here. Redundant systems and multiple Tier 1 carrier providers for network services I feel are extremely important, especially for mission critical applications.
I found this one - webhostingunleashed.com/features/pros-cons-colocation/ useful for your question and given more explanations. Also i agree with those points that are told by mates above. It is really more flexible than other hosting types.
Colocating the server gives you the greatest flexibility. You get to choose the hardware configuration of the server and the software that goes on it. The hosting company maintains the connection to the Internet and deals with environmental details such as uninterruptible power supplies (UPSs), fire controls, and air conditioning. On the other hand, you're responsible for that server's upkeep
The charges for Colocation hosting would usually include : Physical security, power, bandwidth, space, infrastructure, cooling, on-demand KVM, on-demand physical reboot etc. Depending on the datacenter you may also avail hardware firewall from the service provider as an additional precautionary measure.
I think the advantages of colocation hosting is far more thann what it seemed to be its pros. Colocation hosting is the kind of hosting that is remote from the client which is beneficial for a client or company because of it provide comfort for the company because another company is conducting its responsibility.
The main advantage is more control without the high expense of hosting it yourself. It is almost an in-between. It has some of the benefits of hosting your own server with some of the benefits of not hosting it yourself.
Benefits of hosting yourself:
you own the server
Benefits of not hosting it yourself:
you don't have to worry about security
you don't need to buy all the hardware
Colocation meets all the benefits above.
