This site does a reverse DNS lookup of an IP address by searching domain name registry and registrar tables. IP addresses are four numbers in the range of 0 to 255 separated by periods.

Not sure I understand the question the way it was meant: but please note that you (as data center, as IP net owner) can also set a rDNS (reverse DNS) entry for IPs -- usually done to the HOSTNAME of servers for the main IP or in case of domain hosting accounts with a dedicated IP done for that domain.

This is a tool to show what is set up there:

According to me Reserve DNS is the determination of the domain name which is associated with given ip address.

reverse DNS mapped an IP back to a hostname.
It is important that you setup reverse DNS for your VPS IP. Otherwise, you will see a lot mail bounces due to incorrect reverse DNS.

This is the correct answer for you in a simple manner. DNS helps you to point back to ip thus giving a better identity. If you set RDNS you can avoid other mail servers rejecting the mails and also can avoid getting blocked in blaclikst because of this single reason.

RDNS pretty much is a method to determine a hostname with it's associated IP. Some 'free email' providers like AOL, Hotmail sometimes rejects mail from a server if it doesn't have a RDNS Entry.

Reverse DNS is IP address to domain name mapping - the opposite of normal DNS which maps domain names to IP addresses.

Computer networks use the Domain Name System to determine the IP address associated with a domain name. This process is also known as forward DNS resolution. Reverse DNS is the inverse process, the resolution of an IP address to its designated domain name.

The use of the rDNS: network troubleshooting via tools such as traceroute, ping, and the "Received" trace header field for SMTP e-mail, web sites tracking users etc.

DNS is known as Domain Name System. Primary work of DNS is to resolve the host name to IP address.
DNS converts the machine names to IP addresses such as 199.249.150.9. Basically, it translates from a name to an address and from an address to a name.
