There are a lot of differences, the main one in my personal opinion is that Windows is not free. You have to buy a license. I would recommend to buy it from cheapoemsoft.com since it is the cheapest and best shop online. Highly recommended!

On Windows, a software can be packaged for XP, Vista, 7 or 8 etc. that way a developer is not worried about what version of Windows OS a user is on. But that’s also the same reason why an outdated virus for Windows XP can infect newer versions of Windows 7, 8 and 10.

On Linux, a software is packaged for specific distro release i.e. Linux Mint 17 developers only package required dependencies for it and nothing more, that way a software is not bloated with unnecessary drivers or library files.

No virus or Malware, no need to pay for anti-virus software which eats lots of system resources and make your pc slow day by day and need regular update.
You will get regular update and your system will not be slow down or no buggy update like windows.
No need to go to web and search for individual package, Most Linux Distribution has it’s own software center from their you can easily install most widely used software.
Once you comfortable with Terminals, It will be very easy to find any software via command and from Terminals you can maintain your whole OS very easily and effectively.

Windows:-

Windows is extremely easy to install and use, but you can’t modify it.
You have to pay money to use it and you have to use it in microsoft’s style. you can’t change and share it with others.
Sometimes it becomes more buggy and slow after windows update.
anti-virus and Anti-Malware software must required. you have to regularly update it.
For software installation you have to search software online and download then install. Windows store has many applications but still you need to go online for major software installation.

I know that Linux hosting is with an opensource platform whereas windows is easy to use. you can use linux control panel is cPanel while windows control panel is with plesk.

Windows
Windows has very few customization options available. In windows every user won’t have access to the source code, only members of the selected group will have access to it
In windows, we have command line but can’t use a Linux command line. We need to go running and enter cmd then the command line will open.
Windows gives users a simple system to operate but it will take a longer time to install.
Windows is the major target for developers of viruses and malware and it is most vulnerable without anti-virus software.
