Who uses a VPS?

Are you using a VPS and why? Is it a point of cost? or is it something else?
I am trying to find out who uses one and what kind of experience people are having with them.

VPS are not as powerfull as dedicated servers but the features you get with vps are virtually the same. It also depends on the scale of you hosting company and/or site.

the ability to move the vps from hardware to hardware without have to rebuild the entire hosting environment can be a great bonus. IE - a server upgrade can take less than 15 minutes without having to worry about how you compiled apache, php which modules you need to install for clients, chaning ips and a lot of other things. There are downside too, it really depends on your hosting needs.
