    Trust Issues in Ecommerce

E commerce applications is a topic with many unresolved issues. The traditional mechanisms of face-to-face contact and reputation often do not translate into the electronic realm. New mechanisms based around the use of cryptograpic algorithms and digital certificates issued by Certification Authorities are evolving, but their use in practical applications, and means for providing transitivity of trust through chains of certificates are still not well understood.

    E-payment types

One of the main features of e-commerce applications is the ability to accept a form of electronic payment:
    • Credit Cards and Smart Cards: Credit cards VISA, American Express, and MasterCard are the most used method of payment over the internet. Smartcards are just like credit cards, having a 8-bit microprocessor and using electronic cash.
    • Financial Cyber-mediaries: Companies like PayPal enable financial transactions over the internet
    • Electronic Bill Presentment and Payment (EBPP): EBPP systems send bills from service providers to individual consumers via the internet, instead of receiving a bill through the mail. I have my own ecommerce site http://www.infyecommercesolution.com

E-comm can be tricky if you do not do your research into the proper partner for processing your card types. This is the most important part of any e-commerece application.

Lack of Trust is one major reason that restrict the growth of Ecommerce. Hackers easily intrude and encrypt secure data like credit cardnumber, password etc., This fear of getting hacked make ecommerce to be insecure. One important quality that an Ecommerce site must have is SSL certificate and the transaction must take place through https:// instead of http://.

The infrastructure on which an e-commerce site is built is critical to ensuring its security, dependability, and ability to handle sudden and/or seasonal spikes in demand. At the same time, e-commerce applications must be able to handle the business of commerce: accept and manage payments, manage the checkout pipeline, and pick, pack, and ship goods to customers. For many companies, these are not their core competencies. They’d prefer to focus on improving the online experience and driving qualified customer traffic rather than building and managing an e-commerce platform. An e-commerce solution provider should address these concerns in an easy-to-use and trustworthy manner.

Well this is true that this mechanism doesn't impose the trust like face to face interaction but still it's up to you how trustworthy your ecommerce website can be made for prospectors.

E Commerce is not an efficacious remedy for your business. Yes, it is important and can help to expand your geographical customer reach. But you can’t just set up online stores, pour your products and services into it, and wait for good things fall down from the sky. Just like another form of business, ecommerce has its own advantages.

I think lack of Trust is one main purpose that prohibit the expansion of eCommerce. Hackers effortlessly intrude and encrypt safe knowledge like credit card number, password and so on., This worry of getting hacked make eCommerce to be insecure. One essential superiority that an eCommerce site should have is SSL certificates and the transaction must happen through https:// rather than http://.

Of course any ecommerce site should have it's own SSL certificate but many people visiting your store wont even know what an SSL is. If you want to sell more with an ecommerce store then you need a phone number so they can call you or a chat box plus a real physical location.
