The length of any one label is limited to between 1 and 63 octets. A full domain name is limited to 255 octets including the separators.

In the main 100 sites, the longest space is 17 characters. The majority of this data demonstrates that you should keep your space name concise. Go for 6-14 characters – and recollect: the shorter, the better. In all likelihood the shorter area names are taken a LONG time back and sold for a large number of dollars.

253 characters is the maximum length of full domain name, including dots: e.g. www.example.com = 15 characters.

63 characters in the maximum length of a "label" (part of domain name separated by dot). Labels for www.example.com are com, example and www.

This is an example of the domain with longest possible label (a fully working website BTW): http://www.abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxy...cdefghijk.com/. The domain name length = 71 characters.

This will be an example of longest domain name: abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzabcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwx yzabcde.abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzabcdefghijklmnop qrstuvwxyzabcdefghijk.abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzab cdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzabcdefghijk.abcdefghijklmn opqrstuvwxyzabcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzabcdefghijk. com

    - In general, when it comes to the length of your domain, shorter is better. According to research from DataGenetics.com, a blog by Nick Berry, the most common name length is approximately 12 characters.

The maximum number of characters you can have in a website address left of the "." is 63 characters. That's an awfully long URL and we don't recommend choosing such a lengthy domain in any circumstances.

Refer to the domain name, I think the shorter is better, and another important thing is the word must be easy to remember and catchy.

When it comes to a domain name, less is more. Shorter names are easier to remember and to type, which means users are more likely to find you. It's also easier to stand out when there's less to read. It's a good idea not to exceed 2-3 words.

Aim for 6-14 characters & remember the shorter, the better.
Most likely the shorter domain names are taken a LONG time ago and sold for thousands of dollars. If you can't find something short, make it brandable.
