Directory submission gives you good backlink and traffic if we submit in a proper category or subcategory.

Yeah, still it's effective and considered as one of the top 25 powerful techniques. You can use high DA directories for getting the backlinks.

Great question and it is important to know about it, it is effective or not, so web directories are not effective now as it effective in sometimes before.
