In shared hosting you can not alter or modify any software configuration and working environment. BUT with VPS you can configure your own environment and software. Its freedom with VPS but requires system admin knowledge to maintain your VPS.

Shared hosting will contain Shared resources and very limited bandwidth usage. you need to upgrade your services In case if your website is driving more traffic.
VPS will have dedicated resources. Its an alternative to dedicated servers, very affordable and an Effective choice for any E-commerce website.

From your signature, looks like you're running a site for a dentist. You won't need a VPS for this, unless you're a super high profile dentist office. Shared hosting exists for use cases like yours.

A shared hosting plan hosts multiple accounts on a single dedicated IP address. They are usually used to save costs and space for hosting. Shared hosting is not very recommendable as they do not provide data security as the same space and IP address is shared between multiple clients.

With a VPS, you receive all the ability of dedicated hosting with the power to possess your own set of services and customization space. With shared hosting, you've got restricted body access and cannot customise package configurations, whereas with a VPS you'll perform any actions from your panel and do not ought to contact technical support with each single request.

There are numerous contrasts between a common facilitating and VPS server. One of the distinctions is that on a common facilitating, your record is facilitated on a server with different records, while on VPS server, you will be the special case will's identity facilitated on that server. Obviously, you can make as much as you need accounts on your VPS server.

On shared hosting your account is hosted with other accounts, this means that the available resources on that server are split and shared between all accounts on that server. The VPS server is Virtual Private Server and on this server only you will be able to add other accounts and manage their resource limits. All the available resources that are included in your VPS plans will be used only for your account and other accounts that you will create.

    Simply explaining -

Shared hosting is used mostly when you are a beginner and you have a website that does not have much traffic and load on it.
Whereas VPS is used mostly when you have a website that have moderate traffic, online connectivity, enough data on website, etc.

It is the same difference as between a dedicated server and usual shared hosting. With a VPS, you receive all the power of dedicated hosting with the ability to have your own set of services and customizable disk space.

VPS is your own server with root access. You can host anything on it as it's your server. You can have any applications, software. You will have the bandwidth, resources, inode only for your service, it won't get shared with any other server. You will get dedicated resources for your service on VPS. You can manage the server in your way.

Server will have good up-time and security measures if you will manage it from your end as there won't be interfere of other service. You will have root SSH access too.

If you have small site with just one to three pages with low resource, disk space, bandwidth usage then go with the shared hosing service. Shared hosting service will be totally manged by the hosting provider. You will not have the root access, there will be limited access for all feature on the shared hosting server.

VPS is recommended for the applications which needs more resources, bandwidth, disk space etc. You should have good knowledge of the server management if you have your own VPS.
