Domain authority is a metric which was created by Moz (SaaS company), for the purpose of rating a website on a scale of 1-100, (100 being the best and 1 being the worst). So the higher the domain authority of a website, the higher its ranking in search engines.

    Domain Authority

First off, let me share a few key facts about DA. This information will help you better understand exactly how you can move your DA upward:

Domain authority is based on a lot of factors. Primarily, however, these are link profile factors such as how many backward links are pointing to your website and how authoritative those sites are.

It is very difficult to gain a DA number of 100. Sites like Facebook and Google have it, so don’t be disappointed if you never hit 100.

DA is difficult to influence directly. You can’t change your DA score like you can change your meta tags

Domain Authority (DA) is a score developed by Moz that predicts how well a website will rank on search engine result pages (SERP). Domain Authority scores range from one to 100, with higher scores corresponding to a greater ability to rank.

Developed by Moz, Domain Authority is a metric that can be used to understand how Google’s Algorithms rank you based on your authority or credibility on the web. While many online developers have been plucking their hairs wondering how Google’s Algorithms work, Moz’s Domain Authority is a way to gauge how your website would perform competitively when pitted against other websites in your niche. The Domain Authority is a score based on a scale of 100 and an amalgam of many SEO factors that make some websites rank better than others on the web.

Among the many SEO factors, the key elements which make up the DA are – The website’s Age, Popularity, Backlinks, MozRank, MozTrust, etc. Domain Authority was developed as a competitive metric to keep track of how well you are performing when compared to your opposition. The more the DA on a scale of 100, the better your website is placed when it comes to ranking on Google.
