No, where you register your domain name has no effect on the speed of your website or performance of the site.

Not really, site performance, if you are talking about speed of your web page, then the web page made should be optimized, web hosting is not always a problem.

Slow preforming Servers will damage your site in so many wayany SEO done will be waisted good will not rank your site as well,

you need to Think about a number of things.

Web Design: should be Responsive and optimized
Hosting: make sure the server you are on is running LiteSpeed web servers
Images: all images you use on your site should be properly optimized for performace.

Yes. Site performance depends on web hosting.
If you are using shared web server then performance will not be good as dedicated server.
Also, performance depend on which service you are utilizing, for eg: vps hosting, dedicated server, cloud hosting, etc.

Site performance depends upon, which type of hosting service you prefer to use. Eg. VPS hosting, Cloud hosting, dedicated hosting gives you quality hosting experience with High performance, DDOS protection, security, unique features & 99.9% Network uptime.

There are a lot of factors that can go into the speed of a website from the server specifications to the quality of the network, the region of the server to the visitors, and the application itself (if it's poorly written it could be the cause for The slowness and not the host itself)

As mentioned above, there are many factors that will affect speed and performance and starts with having your website optimized and designed for fast load. More than 3 seconds load time and over 40% people move on from site. Despite some above saying web hosting doesn't affect, it does. Think about it, if you get cheap shared hosting as mentioned to stay away from, speed will be affected by traffic from "noisy" neighbors. If they are DDOS'd or otherwise attacked and hosting co has to shut server down, your website down. If you rent vm (VPS) that is "fast", but network isn't or hosted on otherside of world, it will add letency. If VPS is like many hosted by white box resellers on only one node vs cloud, that dedicated box goes down and all VMs and websites on go down. Downtime I would say is part of performance, along with speed. Lastly, if your website does go down or server not responding or not able to handle traffic & scale up on the fly, you need to be able to contact hosting company quickly & fix or your losing $. Don't kid yourselves & brush off, it makes a difference. When comparing & doing research to find a good host, look not only at server & how "fast" they claim it to be, but architecture it is built on, infrastructure of Data Center housing it, and that DC's network. Not just plugging my company, but we do have 100% uptime SLA(DC power & network not down over 15 yrs), all VPS are set up on true cloud environment with high availability, and have unmetered bandwidth plus we are very upfront and open about our pricing, DC infrastructure, and network. These are things to consider if your wanting great performance, no surprises, and expect a lot of traffic.
