To my knowledge google did not specify any maximum or minimum query length. It totally depends on the browser capability. for each browser has some unique number of characters to be allowed for the search query.

    Internet Explorer : 2,083 characters

    Firefox : 65,536 characters

    Opera : 190,000 characters

    Safari : 80,000 characters

    Chrome : 64 characters

If you try to use URLs longer than this limited characters then you will get a error message.

It depends on the browser capability.

    Internet Explorer

Microsoft states that the maximum length of a URL in Internet Explorer is 2,083 characters, with no more than 2,048 characters in the path portion of the URL.

    Firefox

After 65,536 characters, the location bar no longer displays the URL in Windows Firefox 1.5.x. However, longer URLs will work.

    Safari

At least 80,000 characters will work.

    Opera

At least 190,000 characters will work.
