You should only use a keyword if it makes your domain name more intuitive. For example, if you sell watches, you might want to consider a domain name like BobsWatches.com as it tells users your brand name as well as what your business is about.

A keyword in a domain name will not help a website rank for that keyword, says Google's John Mueller. Google's John Mueller advises SEOs and site owners there's no ranking benefit associated with having keywords in a domain name.

Following best practices for a domain name is necessary. Like, not having hyphens or numbers in between. Choosing a simpler and easier to pronounce domain name. Ensuring that it is unique and not taken or not close to other domain names. All this is fine.

But choosing a domain name solely for SEO purposes beats the point of having a domain name.

A domain name is your business' identity. But if you choose a domain name based on a keyword, it will take away the essence of your business.

Do you think amazon chose their domain name because of keywords? Fun fact is that amazon before becoming the same had registered for relentless.com as their domain name, and there wasn't any specific voume for this keyword i.e. relentless. So, it doesn't make sense to have a domain name that is based on keyword.

If there is a keyword that has high volume and suits your brand name or coincidentally is the same, then maybe, perhaps it works.

To be honest keywords and domain names should not be used together to get traffic to the website. If you have a good product, promote it and do a proper SEO around it.

In case, you are a category where the keyword volume for a particular keyword is high, for.eg. buy groceries has 50,000 volume per month, and if you are a grocery store that wants to name yourself buygrocery.com, then perhaps it can benefit you in your search results.

WIth that being said, anyone having a stronger SEO game is most likely to win in this case too than merely having a domain name with high volume for SEO.

So finally my advise would be just focus on your SEO and work around your domain name based on your company or brand's name. Its better that way. Choose options for domain names with BigRock because they have a a great variety for domains.
