Pogo-sticking is defined as going back and forth from a search engine results page (SERP) to an individual search result destination site. In other words, pogo-sticking is when the searcher clicks on a link on a SERP, sees that it's not what she is looking for, and immediately bounces off by hitting the back button.

Pogo sticking occurs when a user performs a search, clicks on a result, very quickly clicks back to the search result page, and clicks on a different result. This type of behavior is a direct result of immediate dissatisfaction in the search result, and—unlike bounce rate—pogo sticking is always a bad thing.

Pogo Sticking is a conceptual term in search engine optimization in which a user or audience come at certain website and immediately go back on other website at SERP to get their needful stuff. Bounce rate should be lower to manage the good ranking. Because if you rank on top position but your bounce rate is high then you are not rank for long period because search engine watch this very minutely. So to avoid Pogo sticking know your audience interest and requirement so that they stay to read your page or website.

pogo-sticking is a bad thing in terms of seo when a website ranks highly but fails to satisfy the needs of the people using that search term. reasons of pogo sticking is a high bounce rate also.
when they select an item from the results, look at one page, then go back and select the next item in the search results, and repeats this a number of times.
poor website design can greatly contribute to pogo-sticking problems.

Pogo-sticking can occur for a number of reasons but it is important to note that this is not the same thing as having a high bounce rate. A high bounce rate generally means one of two things:

Your webpage is managing to attract exactly the right audience and is satisfying their needs on the landing page; or
Your webpage is somehow attracting exactly the wrong audience and they are leaving your website unsatisfied.
Pogo-sticking refers only to the latter cause of high bounce rates. Depending on the nature of your website, wikis for example, a high bounce rate may be a sign of success but pogo-sticking is never a good thing.

Pogo sticking is the process of going to the particular website from SERP and finds that it's not the website he/she looking for and immediately bounces back to the SERP.

Pogo-staying is characterized as backpedaling and forward from a web search tool comes about page (SERP) to an individual item goal website. At the end of the day, pogo-staying is the point at which the searcher taps on a connection on a SERP, sees that it's not what she is searching for, and instantly skips off by hitting the back catch.
