What Is The Use Of Virtual Domain?
Hi Friends,
Virtual hosts are used to host multiple websites with different domain names from the same hosting server. The primary domain will be the one to which you purchased or setup that web server. The virtual host(s) is available on Apache(web) servers that further allows you to host other websites that have to be served on other domain names, but without changing the hosting server, thus allowing you to create multiple directories in the same hosting server and host many domains from the same server without them getting entangled with each other's resources, configuration,file/folder permissions and other aspects.
A virtual domain is almost identical to a normal full domain, with the exception that it does not require any additional IP addresses to be added to the GMS Server. A virtual domain piggy backs on a full domain and therefore uses the IP address of that full domain. To differentiate the users in a virtual domain from those in a full domain GMS Mail uses a postfix mechanism to uniquely identify the virtual domain.
Virtual domains are used to represent the personal Internet web address domain name and can be made with your personal one. The virtual domain provides more security in terms of using your own personalized domain and allows the access to the resources that are on the web.
With Virtual hosting you can host multiple website with one Virtual hosting.
Virtual domains are utilized to speak to the individual Internet web address domain name and can be made with your own one. The virtual domain gives greater security as far as utilizing your own customized domain and enables the entrance to the assets that are on the web.
A virtual domain is the base URL of the domain name. Examples include yourdomain.com, google.com etc. Virtual domain names are not just limited to .com, .net, .org, or .edu domain extensions.

- Virtual domain is the domain of the client on which they can run their applications without having to install the server or hardware.
- The software need not to be installed physically on the server as it can be done using the local repositories and maintaining the domain locally.
- Using the virtual domain the server storage space is utilized efficiently and the data can be made more secure before publishing it online.

To differentiate the users in a virtual domain from those in a full domain GMS Mail uses a postfix mechanism to uniquely identify the virtual domain. Although you continue to send mail to user@virtualdomain.com internally GMS Mail appends the defined postfix to the username, and the users mailbox will be stored within the base (full) domain users directory structure bit in the format username.postfix.
The advantages of using virtual domains are that:
1. It reduces the number of IP addresses required.
2. You can delegate domain administration.
3. You can distinguish between addresses like the following, whereas with domain aliases these two appear to be the same:
user@company1.dom
user@company2.dom
