It is the notation which is used with the website name at the end. In SEO point of view and for good ranking of your website, order the .com extension. You can have .net extension too but .com is more preferable. You can order the .uk, .us, .in. .au, the country specific extensions.

So according to you if I dont use domain extension then I have less chances of ranking good in SERPs???
Domain extensions determine your specific target niche or country. Eg: .edu, .gov or .au, .in
