As I know it is an old technique that is like begging for something same with the links. It is like to find the websites and begging to the owner for swapping the links. Also, time-consuming and not worthful.

Link Begging is one way to build links, it is ineffective and the fastest way to annoy a webmaster.

It is not worth it. At least not used much these days. Obviously for slower results and maybe insults hurled at you
