You mean you are using Xenu software for broken links?

Remember that redirecting and fixing broken links is an ongoing process. For the average website, once per month is an appropriate cycle. Another free tool we recommend is Xenu Link Sleuth. After you've installed the Xenu software and opened the tool, go to File – Check URL, and enter your website's domain.

Hi

Open the workbook that contains the broken link.
On the Edit menu, click Links. The Links command is unavailable if your workbook does not contain links.
In the Source file box, click the broken link that you want to fix. ...
Click Manual.

Broken links can be fixed using 301 redirection. 301 redirect is the most efficient and Search Engine Friendly method for webpage redirection. It's not that hard to implement and it should preserve your search engine rankings for that particular page. If you have to change file names or move pages around, it's the safest option. The code "301" is interpreted as "moved permanently".
