Crawl depth allows you to only crawls pages reached within the number of clicks or levels from the starting page.

The starting page of a website is level 1. All the pages linked from the start page are level 2. All the pages linked from level 2 are level 3 etc.

Crawl depth is the extent to which a search engine indexes pages within a website. Most sites contain multiple pages, which in turn can contain subpages. The pages and sub pages grow deeper in a manner similar to the way folders and subfolders (or directories and subdirectories) grow deeper in computer storage.
