Local search is becoming popular day by day; it is often said that search engines give higher importance to the websites hosted on local servers. Therefore, to do well in local search engines, go with a local host who has their data centre in your country. If you are from UK, look for web hosting UK only. thus it is highly recommended to have website hosted in same country you are targeting.

I think this is important to some customers. It is one item I looked for when searching for hosting for a client of mine.

That doesn't matter.
Uptime. Especially during updates is very important

Yes these factors are more important but for SEO location is also crucial.

Local is not the key point.I think the most important of hosting is security.

well, it depends on the area, the type of restaurant, the clientele, etc. i work 5 nights a week (35 hours), and average about 170.00/night in tips. pick a place you like, and chat with the staff there, to see, how much you can make there. you sound like a hard worker, good luck !

Well, the server location does matter a nit if you think in the view point of traffic. If you want to target the traffic from India, it will be good if you have your servers in india

Have to disagree with this. In terms of speed, I doubt your clients will notice the difference between a server located in the UK or US (as an example).
As for SEO, I'd be surprised if IP location had anything to do with rankings.

If your targeted audience is from a specific country then the server located in that country is help you to get more customers in search engine, but your audience from whole world then the server location doesn't matter.

Uptime is more important and having the correct meta tags. Don't think server location is very important at all.

I've heard it does and I'm inclined to believe it when someone like Matt Cutts says it.

Hi Matt, could you confirm whether the geographic location of the web host has any significant ranking factors for organic SEO?

Yes, it does because we look at the IP address of your web server. So if your web server is based in Germany, we’re more likely to think that it’s useful for German users.
That’s not the only country we’re going to return you for. We also look at the TLD, we look at the .de or .fr and all those sorts of things.
You can also specify in Google Webmaster console and say ‘Yes, my site .com or .net or whatever is about this specific country’. You can even do that for specific parts of your site, like de. something com, or fr.example.com.
I would absolutely recommend that you use those tools. If you find a great deal in a particular country, and you really want to stay in that country with your web server, I think that’s fine.
But, if you are worried about it or want to experiment, you can certainly try switching the geographic location of your web server, which is esentially changing your IP address. That might end up helping for various countries.
So, it’s the sort of thing where I encourage you to experiement.

It depends on the type of business you are. If you are a restaurant, you need to feature in the local searches. But if you sell online, for example, then it doesn't matter, as where your visitors live may not make any difference to the relevancy as a customer.

Even if you are dealing with the Online stuff, you need to host your site some where. It is better to host the sites with the server location where you can have maximum number of visitors and demand :)
Hope this Helps...
