How to create 410 error on thin content?

I have got so many image attachment indexed becouse of yoast plugin bug. i have also installed their patch purge plugin. i want to make this procedure fast and remove those image attachment urls. how would i do that fast?

404 any categories which have not had any listings for X amount of time (remove them permanently from the site).Hide categories from nav on the site when they have no listings present and noindex these pages to avoid any thin content being crawled.
