A page would then be boosted on a keyword phrase if that particular keyword phrase was also found in the meta description, along with title tag and content. In 2009, Google officially declared that a statement entitled Google does not use the keywords meta tag in web ranking.

All search engines became smarter and had a much better ranking algorithm. Since meta tags for keywords were often spammed, many started to find ways to do away with this method and look at your actual content.

Meta Description Attribute. This is a quite useful meta tag as, very simply, it explains to search engines and (sometimes) searchers themselves what your page is about. ... Google has also stated that keywords in meta descriptions won't affect your rankings.

When someone searches for your website, they first see the blue line of text, this is your Title tag.
