A long-tail keyword is a keyword phrase that contains at least three words (though some say two or more is considered long-tail). Long-tail keywords are used to target niche demographics rather than mass audiences. In other words, they're more specific and often less competitive than generic keyword terms.

Keywords refers to the particular word or phrase that describes the content of the web page. Long tail keyword refers to the group of three or four phrases. Such keywords have less competition but are more descriptive and specific as compared to a keyword phrases.

Long Tail Keywords mean that the keyword containing three or more three words. Long Tail Keywords are the keywords that contain the specific information about the particular thing, so these have less competition and easy to rank (it doesn't mean you have no need to work on it, it all depends upon the search volumes and niche).
