Anchor text is the clickable text in a hyperlink. SEO best practices dictate that anchor text be relevant to the page you're linking to, rather than generic text. The blue, underlined anchor text is the most common as it is the web standard, although it is possible to change the color and underlining through html code.

It is important to diversify the anchor text you use. Using exact match anchor text is something that should be done carefully and kept to a minimum to avoid search engines viewing this as a manipulation attempt.

Text with a clickable link is generally called Anchor Text. You prefer to use your keyword with a clickable backlink so that people click the link and go to your website.

But you should not use the same exact match anchor text constantly. Doing this can reduce a site's ranking. Therefore, you should diversify the anchor text you use for ranking. For instance, if you use 'photo retouching service', you can diversify it into 'image retouching service'. This process is known as Anchor Text Diversity.

Anchor Text Diversity is simple really. It is having a combination of anchors to the same page which do not all point to the same keywords.
